All Hail The Great Cylindrical Thingy!
Heres ja' go! Some progress on my island. I painted the palm trees, and they're all facing the same way. The way the trunks curve make them look like some sort of cult that's bowing down to the potential volcano. I find that creepy. Yes, that's supposed to be a volcano, with a hot spring at the top, and a waterfall pouring down. I'm still trying to figure out how make planes double faced, so that the normals aren't invisible. And to make the trees more random, so that they face different ways.
I've made a lot of progress on the jungle gym. I've modeled weights, a punching bag, and various other pieces of equipment, as well as a fence. I've finished texturing some assets, so it's coming across quite nicely. Unity is a bit foreign to me, since I've been using Unreal. So, there's lighting that I have to figure out as well. Unreal is easier to use, but I find Unity to be more forgiving. Except when it crashes, and wipes out my work (as I mentioned in a previous blog post). I always get errors when I try to export Unreal projects as an executable file, and I need a programmer to find the error.
I'm graduating soon, so I'm in a bit of a crunch at the moment. I've been working on Weeping Willow lately, as I want to get a walkthrough video of that environment. I'll be focussing on that over the next week. I'm going to make a separate section on this site for gaming environments. There'll be an array of thumbnails for different environments, which will take you to a page, where you can view a walkthough of that environment, as well as screenshots, and concept art.
